Digital maps to verify encroachments

PANCHKULA: In an attempt to check encroachments in sectors and markets by roping in residents, Haryana Urban Development Authority has decided to prepare a digital map of original plan of each sector and to provide it to the residents welfare association (RWAs) and market associations. By checking on the digital map, residents can see whether there is encroachment or not and accordingly complaint to Huda.
Besides checking encroachments, daily routine issues like width of road, area of park, area of parking area, width of back lane, for which residents visit Huda office daily, will be easily accessible on the digital maps.
A senior official of Huda said that on an average every month they receive 20 such queries and complaints from residents. ''Loads of time is wasted in solving these. With the digital map, this time will be saved,'' he added.
Another official said that since there are 33,000 properties of Huda in Panchkula, with the help of these maps property owners can get exact details of their property like area, location.
Apart from these facilities, these digital maps will hold information about parks, hospitals, markets, schools & colleges, police station, rest houses, hotels for the convenience of residents.
IT wing of Huda has already started work for preparing these digital maps.
Huda administrator Rajender Kataria said, ''We are trying to prepare these maps as early as possible. The motive behind this move is to minimize the rush of residents to Huda office and to provide information at their doorstep.''
